If you receive error 3004 when installing/reinstalling Sophos, it’s due to permissions on the registry.
Please be careful when making changes to the registry and always take a backup.
Try the below fix:
Check that administrators and system have full control to the below registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sophos
(If this key is not present, create it and apply the above permissions)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Interface
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Typelib
Try installing Sophos again
