How to hide a folder

Reading Time: < 1 minute

If you hide a folder it is still quite easy for others to be able to view them if they follow the instructions at https://cloudbuild.co.uk/?p=501

But most users on a domain/network probably won’t know how to do this unless they really look into it.

To hide a folder from others on a domain/network:

1) Right click the folder you wish to hide
2) Click properties
3) Tick hidden, click ok

If the folder includes confidential data, hiding the folder is not recommended but instead I would recommend applying security permissions to the folder.

1) Click start
2) Click control panel or settings and control panel

If you find that both off and on are greyed out, then it’s possible that a network policy at the company you work for will not allow you to enable or disable your Windows firewall. In this case see your network administrator.

Services stopping automatically on Windows server

Reading Time: < 1 minute

If you find that various services are automatically stopping on your server which is causing network shares to disable, then there is a high chance that your network has been affected with the conflicker virus.

Make sure your AntiVirus is up to date. Running an anti virus scan will not help as the virus will reappear.
