Roaming profiles are not saved when a user logs off a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer or a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer. The following error message is logged in the application event log:

Description: Windows cannot unload your registry file. If you have a roaming profile, your settings are not replicated. Contact your administrator. DETAIL – Access is denied. Build number ((2195)).

  1. This problem occurs because of a registry handle leak in Windows Installer. This problem was first exposed after the installation of the MS03-026 security update.
